Police searching for 'armed and dangerous' suspect in fatal Benton Harbor shooting

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. – Officers of the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety responded to a call regarding a shooting.

Early Sunday morning, officers arrived to 996 LaVette for a shooting complaint.

Officials located two males suffering injuries who were transported to Lakeland Hospital.

Both victims were pronounced deceased a short time later.

Both men, 22-year-old Cortez Miller and 29-year-old Michael Johnson passed away at Lakeland Hospital succumbing to injuries sustained in the shooting.

Police say the suspect, 40-year-old Antwan Tamon “Tank” Mims is of interest and should be considered "armed and dangerous."

Authorities allege Mims may be attempting to leave the area and could be headed to Indianapolis.

Mims is a person of interest in this case and warrants are pending.
