One woman killed, one seriously injured in house fire

LA PORTE, Ind. -- Two women were seriously injured in a house fire on Woodward Street Wednesday morning, according to the La Porte Fire Department. One of the victims has died from her injuries.
The fire department was called to 111 Woodward Street just before 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Two women were transported from the scene by ambulance to La Porte Hospital for severe burns.
Officials say the women were transported by helicopter to two different burn centers.
One of the women has since passed away.
The second victim is in critical condition.
Fire officials say the initial cause is believed to be a natural gas explosion, but the fire remains under investigation.
