One man is dead after an officer involved shooting in Walton

WALTON, Ind. -- Indiana State Police report a man was shot and killed in Cass County early Saturday morning.

Dispatch stated a call came in at approximiately 4:00 a.m. regarding a man attempting to harm himself.

According to the Cass County Sheriff's Department, William Pollard, a 45-year-old man from Walton, was stabbing himself with a knife at his Carol Drive when an undisclosed incident led to Pollard being shot by officers.

Officials say paramedics attempted life saving procedures but Pollard eventually died from his wounds.

At the request of Cass County Sheriff's Department, the Indiana State Police are now the lead agency of this ongoing investigation.
