Severe weather could visit Midwest again Wednesday
SOUTH BEND, Ind – Thousands of people drive towards campus for every Notre Dame home game, including those who park on Twyckenham Drive.
Some residents on Twyckenham Drive rent space on their lawn to Notre Dame fans to park during the game.
Residents on Twyckenham noticed a partial shutdown on Twyckenham between South Bend avenue and Howard street, which they say hasn’t always been that way.
“Around 11:30 I believe we noticed that they blocked by Corby and Twyckenham off and we couldn’t figure out why they was doing that” Angel Walker said.
People who live on Twyckenham can buy a parking permit from the city of South Bend for $50 and that allows them to charge people to park on their lawn during home games.
According to South Bend Police approximately three hours before kickoff Twyckenham between South Bend Ave and Howard street is shut down to control the traffic flow.
Neighbors say they’re glad their concern was heard by officers on the scene and they hope a solution could be reached to benefit everyone.
“I believe that I put the concern out there and hopefully some results can come from it” Walker said.
