NILES, Mich.-Get ready, get set, bargain hunt! Michigan's longest garage sale kicked off Friday and if you're looking to score a great deal, this is the weekend for you.
The annual U.S. 12 Heritage Trail Garage Sale stretches more than 180 miles from New Buffalo to Detroit.
Every year, folks living across the route clean out their attics and stake out their front yards. Some even rent a different location to set up a booth.
"I use the money I make on this weekend to one pay my property taxes, which isn't much and that's also my Christmas savings account," said Donna Simmons, who hosts a garage sale every year.
It's also a great opportunity to get to know the community.
"You get to talk to a lot of different people," said Sally Frye, who is holding a garage sale at her Buchanan home. "We're hoping to see people from quite a distance," Frye said.
You can find all of the garage sale locations HERE.
