SOUTH BEND, Ind. - South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg has been named to the inaugural class of the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative.
Buttigieg is one of 40 mayors in the inaugural class.
The initiative brings together mayor and business leaders from across the country. The mayors receive training and tools to help them tackle the problems facing their cities.
In a statement provided to ABC 57, Buttigieg said, "It is an honor for South Bend to have been one of the few cities selected for this initiative. It's an opportunity to share South bend's story and to learn from the best practices of other innovative cities. I am always looking for ways to learn and grow in my job, and I am learning a great deal from faculty and fellow mayors in this program."
The year-long program includes a three-day training session in New York City this month and a four-day session in August.
