Bridging the healthcare gap in Michiana
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Hundreds of visual, performing, and culinary artists from Michiana will showcase their talents at Art Beat 2018 on Saturday.
Visual, culinary, and performing artists will be featured at this year's event. The event brings more than 14,000 people to Downtown South Bend. It starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 7 p.m. It's completely free.
Visitors also have the chance to get creative as well. There are two interactive community art projects. One is a mural. The other features painted metal pieces.
Roger DeLoof is a vendor at this year's Art Beat. He's an 18-year-old Michiana teen with Autism who created Until Every Piece Fits. It's a jewelry company that creates necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. Fifteen percent of the money made goes toward Autism Speaks. The other 85 percent goes toward DeLoof's college fund.
A number of streets will be closed due to Art Beat. Michigan St. and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. will be closed from Colfax to Wayne St. Additionally, Washington St. and Jefferson Blvd. will close from Michigan St. to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
