ISP Detective involved in shooting during bank robbery getaway
KENDALLVILLE, Ind. -- An Indiana State Police Detective was involved in a shooting while trying to arrest a bank robbery suspect.
According to officials, 21-year-veteran of the force responded to a bank robbery at approximately 10 a.m. at the Campbell and Fetter Bank in Kendallville, Indiana.
After the Detective blocked the suspect's vehicle from escaping, the suspect continued to ram the police truck which caused the officer to respond with one gunshot which did not hit the suspect.
ISP states that the suspect had fled southbound on State Road 3 before he was eventually captured by other officers near Old State Road 8 and SR 3.
Further information regarding the bank robbery will be provided by the FBI as they are the lead agency of the investigation.
The identities of the suspect and officer are both unknown at this time.
