Heavy snow traps residents, visitors to Swiss ski village
ZERMATT, Switzerland (CNN) -- Heavy snow cut off passages leading out of Zermatt, Switzerland, a remote ski village near the Matterhorn.
The only way out for some who posted on social media, was by helicopter.
Swiss TV captured images of rescuers working to make way for people inside the village to get out.
Tourism officials told CNN the situation is now under control but rail lines which lead to the next town are still being cleared of the snow.
