Golf outing includes members of Notre Dame's 1966 championship team

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -

Members of the Notre Dame 1966 National Championship football team got together at the golf course to celebrate the 50th anniversary of that special team.

It was all a part of the Mike McCoy Ministries Charity Golf Outing. McCoy was an All-American defensive tackle for that Irish '66 team.

Teammates like quarterback Terry Hanratty and center George Goeddeke hit the links, shared some stories and relived that magical season.

Head Coach Ara Parseghian sat down with ABC57 Saturday Kickoff host-Allison Hayes to explain what made that team so special.

"Every team, and every coach will tell you this, has a chemistry. The personalities within the team you have to have somebody who keeps it light, somebody who keeps it serious. That team had an enormous number of guys who had fun," said Coach Parseghian.
