SOUTH BEND, Ind – Fighting Irish fans are preparing for their team’s outdoor hockey showdown versus the University of Michigan on Saturday.
The outdoor game takes place on Saturday at 4:30pm due to the game being pushed back an hour because of the warm temperature, in an effort to preserve the ice.
On Friday fans showed their excitement on campus while picking up their tickets for the game and checking out where the game will be held, and some added that this event will be good for everyone involved.
“With all the activities and with all the youth hockey programs in the area I think there’s an added interest, I know that through my own son being involved in a youth hockey program, I think its grown over the past few years and I think people want to come here to experience Notre Dame and Notre Dame hockey,” Notre Dame hockey fan Stephen Sherk said.
Saturday’s experience surrounding the game will see some changes.
Traffic patterns near campus will be altered and extra security will be in place similar to Notre Dame Notre Dame football games this season.
Both free and paid parking at $15 and $20 will be available.
“I think fans come in and enjoy the neighborhood and spend money which is always good for the local economy,” Notre Dame fan Pat Maraghy said.
The University’s clear bag policy will be in effect like the one that’s used for home football and basketball games.
