Elkhart Housing Authority receives HUD grant for security improvements

The Elkhart Housing Authority has received a $226,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Emergency Safety and Security Program to install security cameras, fencing and lighting at several locations.

Elkhart was one of 22 public housing authority agencies to receive a grant.

The announcement was made during a press conference at the Elkhart Housing Authority on Benham Avenue.

Kimberly Wize, the Indiana Field Office Director of HUD, Elkhart Mayor Tim Neese, Elkhart Police Chief Ed Windbigler and Mitchell Craven of the Elkhart Housing Authority were at the press conference.
