Dowagiac Union High School placed on lockdown

DOWAGIAC, Mich. -- Dowagiac Union High School was placed on lockdown Thursday morning after school administrators received a report of a student with a weapon, according to Superintendent Paul Hartsig.

Dowagiac Police were notified around 11 a.m. about the reports of the student with the gun.

When police arrived, they located the 15-year-old student who allegedly had a gun.

Police said they searched his locker and vehicle, but no weapon was located.

Dowagiac Police spoke with the student and the student was released to his mother.

The lockdown lasted approximately one hour.
