ABC's Halloween special schedule

ABC will be celebrating Halloween in spooktacular fashion this year. This year's returning favorites include It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and Toy Story OF TERROR.

THURSDAY, OCT. 19

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown – In Charles M. Schulz’s classic animated Halloween-themed PEANUTS special, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, the PEANUTS gang celebrates Halloween with Linus hoping that, finally, he will be visited by The Great Pumpkin, while Charlie Brown is invited to a Halloween party. Cast members include Peter Robbins (Charlie Brown) and Christopher Shea (Linus). The cast also includes Sally Dryer as Lucy, Chris Doran as Schroeder, Bill Melendez as Snoopy, Kathy Steinberg as Sally, Tracy Stratford as Violet and Ann Altieri as Frieda. (8:00–8:30 p.m.)

Toy Story OF TERROR! – Tom Hanks and Tim Allen reprise their roles as Woody and Buzz, respectively, in Disney•Pixar’s first special for television, Toy Story OF TERROR! – a spooky tale featuring all of your favorite characters from the Toy Story films. What starts out as a fun road trip for the Toy Story gang takes an unexpected turn for the worse when the trip detours to a roadside motel. After one of the toys goes missing, the others find themselves caught up in a mysterious sequence of events that must be solved before they all suffer the same fate in this Toy Story OF TERROR! The cast of Toy Story OF TERROR! includes Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz, Joan Cusack as Jessie, Carl Weathers as Combat Carl/Combat Carl Jr., Timothy Dalton as Mr. Pricklepants, Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head, Wallace Shawn as Rex and Kristen Schaal as Trixie. SUNDAY, OCT. 22

America’s Funniest Home Videos – Episode 2803 – AFV celebrates Halloween with a montage of kids’ reactions to scary Halloween decorations – including a brave trick-or-treater who tries to stomp on the neighbor’s animatronic zombie hand; pets get in on the Halloween action with funny costumes of their own; and a musical tribute to people getting scared. Funny Face Swaps and a monkey at the zoo who gets jealous when watching a couple kiss will also be featured. (8:00–9:00 p.m.)


MONDAY, OCT. 23

The Chew – Beginning Oct. 23, The Chew Crew has Halloween-themed episodes every day with tasty and terrifying treats, and dishes that will get you into the holiday spirit in no time! (Weekdays, 1:00-2:00 p.m.)


TUESDAY, OCT. 24

The Middle – Halloween VIII: Orson Murder Mystery – As Halloween approaches, Frankie discovers that a woman had died in the bathtub of the Heck house close to 50 years ago; Frankie and Brick become convinced that she was murdered and, much to Mike's chagrin, attempt to track down and find the murderer. Meanwhile, Axl and Lexie become frustrated over losing their alone time when Sue insists on hanging out with them wherever they go. (8:00-8:30 p.m.)

Fresh Off the Boat – It’s a Plastic Pumpkin, Louis Huang – On Halloween, Louis is disappointed that Evan doesn’t take his childish delight in the holiday; Eddie and the gang plot to crash a cool older girl’s party; Jessica and Emery are spooked when they hear a strange man’s voice emanating from Grandma’s room, and things get even creepier when a mysterious group of strangers whisk Grandma away, and they suspect the supernatural worst. George Takei guest stars as Bernard. (8:30–9:00 p.m.)

black-ish – Advance to Go (Collect $200) – The Johnsons get together to play Monopoly during family game night and the competition is intense. As the night progresses, alliances are formed and some family members are pushed to their limits. Meanwhile, Bow makes it clear how she feels about Junior’s girlfriend, Megan. (9:00-9:30 p.m.)

The Mayor – City Hall-oween – As Halloween approaches, Mayor Courtney Rose and Police Chief Fox (guest star Kristen Johnston) find themselves at odds on how to handle the community’s first annual spook-tacular celebration at City Hall. During the night of the bash, it dawns on Courtney that throwing a party to keep kids safe doesn’t address the bigger issues in Fort Grey so he comes up with a more comprehensive plan. Meanwhile, Dina gets into the spirit by dressing up as Congresswoman Maxine Waters, while Jermaine and T.K. set out to prank Val who has the last laugh when she outsmarts the guys at their own game. (9:30-10:00 p.m.)


WEDNESDAY, OCT. 25

The Goldbergs – Jackie Likes Star Trek – After Adam and Jackie disagree over their Halloween costumes, Murray teaches Adam to be a shell of a man to keep Jackie happy; however, it backfires quickly also causing an issue for Murray and Beverly. But they soon all learn to compromise in their own special way, in the Halloween and 100th episode, directed by Lea Thompson (8:00–8:30 p.m.)

Speechless – N-I--NIGHTMARE ON D-I--DIMEO STREET – The DiMeo kids mistakenly eat old Halloween candy that causes feverish dreams of horror and wish fulfillment, and Kenneth agonizes over which era of Michael Jackson to dress as for Halloween. (8:30-9:00 p.m.)

Modern Family – It’s the Great Pumpkin, Phil Dunphy – Phil and Claire still want to celebrate Halloween in a big way, but it seems no one shares their same enthusiasm making them wonder if maybe everyone is right. Over at the Pritchett’s, Mitch and Cam are frustrated by how long Jay is taking to finish their kitchen remodel, which forces Mitch to finally stand up to his dad. Meanwhile, Gloria’s hospitality is wearing thin when Cam oversteps his boundaries as a house guest. (9:00-9:31 p.m.)

American Housewife – Boo-Who? – Westport is known for its Halloween tradition of leaving an anonymous note and goodies on a neighbors’ doorstep (called a Boo). Katie tries to play it cool but is absolutely giddy when the Ottos receive their first Boo, only to find out it was put there by accident, on a special Halloween episode. (9:31-10:00 p.m.)

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown – This full-length version of the classic animated PEANUTS special It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown includes the bonus cartoon, You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown, in which Linus runs for class president. The PEANUTS gang celebrates Halloween, with Linus hoping that, finally, he will be visited by The Great Pumpkin, while Charlie Brown is invited to a Halloween party. Cast members include Peter Robbins (Charlie Brown) and Christopher Shea (Linus). The cast also includes Sally Dryer as Lucy, Chris Doran as Schroeder, Bill Melendez as Snoopy, Kathy Steinberg as Sally, Tracy Stratford as Violet and Ann Altieri as Frieda.
