WALKERTON, Ind. – A 20-year-old substitute teacher at Urey Middle School was arrested Thursday for allegedly engaging in sexual intercourse with a student.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the St. Joseph County Special Victims Unit began an investigation amid rumors that substitute teacher, Austin Kipp, had sex with a middle school-aged student.
Principal Mark Maudlin said Kipp was a substitute on Friday, November 17.
Court documents say Kipp had been a substitute teacher in two of the victim’s classes. She told detectives she spoke to Kipp about personal problems and added him on social media the following day.
The victim said she met Kipp at McDonald in Walkerton on Saturday, then went with him to his residence in North Liberty.
Official records note Kipp and the victim turned on a movie and “smoked a vape” before Kipp allegedly asked the victim if she wanted to “do it.”
He is accused of having sex with the victim and telling her not to tell anyone because “he could go to jail.”
Per the PCA, Kipp initially denied all allegations but later admitted to having sex with the victim.
Kipp was released on GPS monitoring Friday.
